Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Council and Scientific Programme Committee, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the 56th Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Pain Society, from 9th to 11th May 2023, in the beautiful city of Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.

The Scientific Programme of the Meeting has always reflected the multidisciplinary nature of our Society, and this year is no exception. The format once again includes topical debates, lectures, workshops, and parallel sessions which will stimulate further scientific discussions and debates.

The BPS Annual Scientific Meeting will be covering all the new developments and research in the pain community, as well as featuring discussions on challenging and controversial topics related to clinical practice and healthcare policies. This meeting will also give all professionals in the field of pain the opportunity to rub shoulders and exchange ideas with leading researchers, experienced clinicians, and industry partners through a variety of networking possibilities.

Besides the high-quality programme of the meeting, we hope that you will have the opportunity to enjoy the city’s rich history and beautiful sights by venturing out to stunning lochs and mountains. Glasgow was one of the first European Capitals of Culture in 1990; known as an industrial city and ‘dear green space’, it is the largest city in Scotland. Glasgow is famous for its kilts, tartans, bagpipes, whiskies and, of course, it’s delicious haggis. Scotland has one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world with lochs, glens and castles, and a rich heritage going back to more than two thousand years.

We look forward to welcoming you to Scotland, not only for the great Scientific Meeting but also to meet old and new friends in the beautiful city of Glasgow, a vibrant cosmopolitan city bursting with energy, passion, and personality.

Sincerely,

Dr. Arun Bhaskar
BPS President

Dr. Stephen Ward
Scientific Programme Committee Chair
